COMMUNICATION

There are four principal methods of communicating with your fellow gamers withing Cardea, ranging from  private to public.

1. To communicate with all of Cardea, you can SHOUT something. You might for example type "SHOUT help, I am new here!". Where upon anyone else playing Cardea might see 'A voice shouts, "Help, I am new here!"'.

2. To communicate only with those people in your current location (to see who is in your current location, type LOOK - you will see anyone else with you), type SAY <what you want to say>. e.g. "SAY hello". People in your location will see 'Weasal, Sorrow's Bartender says, "Hello."

3. To speak with an individual directly and to no-one else, type in their name, then what you wish to say. E.g. "LEVANA HELLO". Levana would see on her screen "Weasal, Sorrow's Bartender tells you, "Hello." For a list of who is currently online to speak with, type WHO.

4. Finally, if you need to communicate directly with a specific person and they are not online (they do not show up on the WHO list), then you can send them a message which they will receive when next in the land. To do this, type MESSAGE <person> <message>. So for example, you might type "MESSAGE LEVANA thanks for helping me out the other night". When levana next logged in, she could type READMESSAGES (RMSG) and she would see your message along with who sent it and when.

As a final note, it is worth pointing out that when communicating, use of
CAPITAL LETTERS is often interpretted as 'shouting', so unless this is the impression you wish to give, it is advised that you use lower case letters where appropriate.
